Excluding an item from your store's product search results

You may wish to prevent shoppers from finding items using the search feature of your store. You can exclude items from your search results by inserting the <!--nosearch--> tag into the Caption field. Note that adding the <!--nosearch--> tag will have no impact on external search engines finding the item.

To exclude an item from your store's internal product search:

  1. Launch the Store Editor or Catalog Manager depending on how you enter product data.
  2. Go to the item you wish to exclude:
    • Store Editor--navigate to the item and click "Edit".
    • Catalog Manager--Click the "Manage Items" link and click the link for the item to exclude.
  3. Enter the <!--nosearch--> tag in the Caption field of the item.
  4. Save the changes.
  5. Publish your changes.

Note: While adding the nosearch tag excludes the product from your store's search results, it also removes the item from inclusion in Yahoo! Shopping.
