Setting a Minimum Order Amount

The Minimum-Order variable determines the minimum order amount a shopper must reach before being allowed to check out. By default this variable is set to zero. You can choose to set a higher minimum order amount. Typically this applies to stores with low-cost items where the merchants wants a minimum total before processing the transaction becomes profitable. Merchants can also choose to set a minimum quantity for specific items rather than an overall total so shoppers are not allowed to purchase below a certain number of a specific item.

To change the Minimum-Order variable:

  1. From the Store Manager, click the "Store Editor" link.
  2. Click the "Variables" button in the Editor Toolbar.
  3. Locate the "Minimum-Order" variable in the "Store Properties" section of the Variables page.
  4. Enter a new value for "Minimum-Order" representing the minimum order amount a buyer must reach before being allowed to check out.
  5. Click "Update" when finished.
  6. Return to your Home page and publish your changes.

Note: You may wish to inform shoppers of the minimum order requirement so they are not confused if they are unable to check out with less than the minimum order amount required.
