Changing the Minimum Quantity Orderable for an Item

The Minimum-Quantity variable determines the minimum quantity of an item that a shopper is allowed to purchase. By default this variable is set to one. You can use a variable override to set a higher minimum quantity for an item if you only wish to allow shoppers to purchase that many of an item or above. Typically this applies to low-margin items. Merchants can also choose to set a minimum order amount so shoppers are not allowed to check out below a certain order amount.

To change the Minimum-Quantity ordered for an item:

  1. From the Store Manager, click the "Store Editor" link.
  2. Go to the item page for which you wish to set the Minimum Value.
  3. Click the "Edit" button in the Editor Toolbar.
  4. Click the "Override Variable" button at the top of the window.
  5. Select "Minimum-Quantity" from the drop-down menu and click the "Update" button.
The Minimum Quanity variable override now appears at the bottom of the page.
  6. Set the new value for "Minimum-Quantity" and click "Update".
  7. Return to your Home page and publish your changes.

Note: You may wish to inform shoppers of the minimum quantity requirement so they are not confused if they are unable to check out with less than the minimum number of a specific item required.
