The steps and fields for adding meta tags to Store Editor pages vary between Editor 2.0 and Editor 3.0. If you are not sure which version your store uses, please see:
Version 2.0
Merchants using Editor 2.0 have two fields for inserting meta tags or meta tag information: Keywords and Head-tags. The Keywords field is for the Keywords attribute of the meta tag. All you need to put in this field are the keywords themselves, without HTML. The software generates the meta tag automatically. An example syntax would be:
dogs, cats, bird cages, pets, guinea pigs
Entering keywords in this way applies the same keywords to every page in your site.
To enter keywords in the Keywords Variable:
In order to improve your search engine rankings for specific section or product pages, you may wish to apply a different set of keywords for certain pages or a unique set for each product page. To do so, you will need to override the keywords variable for each page where you wish to have a different set of keywords.
To override a variable:
If you'd like to include other meta tags besides the Keywords, you can put them in the Head-tags field. You can add the "Head-tags" field as a custom property to any page using the instructions above for overriding a variable. For these other tags, you must use the full HTML.
Version 3.0
While the Keywords field also appears in the "Variables" section of Editor 3.0, meta tag information entered here will only be applied to the store's entry page. Keywords and descriptions can be applied to each page of a store on a page-by-page basis.
To enter keywords for individual pages:
To enter descriptions for individual pages:
Keywords and description meta tags are generated automatically, and should be entered as text only, without HTML.
If you'd like to include other meta tags on your store pages, you can add the "Head-tags" field as a custom property to any page, and insert tags into this field using full HTML. The Head-tags field may be added as a custom property using the instructions for overriding a variable.
