Creating a Section

There are three types of Yahoo! Store pages you build in your Store Editor. These are: Front page, Section page, and Item page.

Item pages consist of products, and Section pages organize similar or related products into categories (or departments). For example, if you were building an online food store, one of your Sections might be called Fruit, and it might contain three items -- apples, oranges, and pears.

Typically, Section pages consist of links to individual items, accompanied by thumbnail versions of the images found on the Item pages.

To create a Section page:
  1. From Store Manager, access Store Editor. Once you're in Store Editor, you should be on the Front page of your store.
  2. On the Editor toolbar at the top of the page, click the "Section" button.
  3. This takes you to a page with various editable fields, like Name and Caption. In the Name field, enter a section name that describes the section you're creating. (For example, Gifts, Baseball, Printers.)
  4. On this page, you can also add content to other parts of your Section page, like the Headline and Caption field. To upload an image to your page, use the Image button.
  5. Click the "Update" button to save your changes and view your Section page.

Creating a Section from your Front page also creates a navigation button that links to the new Section you just created. The default page layout for navigation buttons places the navigation default in the leftmost column on the Front page.
