Cross-reference filters all you to view your data based on any dimension available in Yahoo! Web Analytics, and can apply multiple filters to a report. For example, you may wish to check the bounce rate of visitors from the U.S. who were referred to your site by an organic search engine result.
To apply cross-reference filters to a report:
- Open a report you wish to apply cross-reference filters to.
- After the report generates, click the "Show Filters" icon (Figure 1). A drop-down menu listing the available cross-reference filters will be displayed.

Figure 1. The "Show Filters" icon.
- Select a cross-reference filter from the drop-down menu. Depending on the type of filter selected, you will then need to enter a name or value to be used by the filter, or to select a filter option from a drop-down list (see the example case below.)
- Click the Add button. The cross-reference filter will be applied.
For example, to filter your Daily Unique Visitors report by Entry Document Group:
- Open the Daily Unique Visitors report, located under the Visitors reports category.
- Click the Show Filters icon.
- Select the "Entry Document Group" filter from the cross-reference filters drop-down list. A second drop-down list will appear to the right of the cross-reference filters list.
- Choose a predefined option from the list. For this example, the "equals" filter will be used.
- Enter a document group name into the field provided. For example, if your site has a document group called "Products" and you wish to see which unique visitors entered the site on a page belonging to this document group, you would enter "Products" into this field (Figure 2).

- Click the Add button. The cross-reference filter will be applied.
You can apply additional cross-reference filters to a report using the "Add New Filter" icon, then following the steps above.
