If you transfer a domain currently registered with a partner of Melbourne IT (our domain registration partner), and that domain has already been registered for 10 years, we may be unable to transfer your domain immediately.
When you transfer a domain to Yahoo!, we automatically add 1 year to your domain registration. Because 10 years is the maximum allowed for a domain registration, we can't transfer your domain until your registration expiration is 9 years or less, or one year after your last renewal date.
If you encounter an error indicating that we can't transfer your domain because you have reached the maximum renewals allowed, we recommend that you redelegate your domain instead of transferring immediately. Redelegating means that you'll simply tell your current registrar to redirect your domain name to point to Yahoo!. This process will allow you to use your domain name with your plan, though you'll continue to manage your domain and pay any renewal fees with your current registrar. Learn how to redelegate.
When your domain registration allow for an additional year of renewal, you can restart the transfer process on your Domain Control Panel. To review your domain renewal date anytime, please contact your current registrar or look up your domain records in the public WHOIS database.
