Who is my domain name registrant?

A registrant is the individual or organization that holds the right to use a specific domain name. This person or organization is the "domain license holder" or legal entity bound by the domain terms-of-service agreements. The registrant, along with the administrative, technical, and billing contacts for a domain, will receive all renewal and other administrative notices associated with the domain name.

Generally when you register a domain name, your domain name registrant will be yourself. A registrant may also be the organization or company that holds the rights to the registered domain name. Your registrant can be the same as your administrative, technical, and billing contacts.

To change the name of the registrant associated with your domain, you'll need to contact your registrar, such as Yahoo! or Network Solutions. Learn more.
