How do I use the POP configuration tool?

Any users with a Business Email address associated with a Yahoo! ID can use our POP configuration tool. (If you were given a Business Mail address, you'll need to first activate your email address. Learn how.)

  1. If you're an owner or an administrator of a Business Mail or Custom Mailbox account, visit the Email Control Panel and click "Additional Options." In the POP/SMTP section, click the "Try it now" link.

Tip: If you were given a Business Mail email address, open the invitation announcing your new email address, scroll down to the "Set Up POP Access" section, and click the "Try it now!" link. (If you received a text or print invitation, you'll have to type the link into your browser's address bar.)

  2. When the POP configuration tool opens, click "Next." (If you haven't signed in to your Business Email account, you'll first be prompted to enter your Yahoo! ID and password.)

  3. Click "Download Now."

  4. If you see an ActiveX security warning, don't worry; this is normal. Simply click the yellow bar at the top of your browser window, and then choose "Install Active X" from the pull-down menu. (Learn more about ActiveX.)

  5. After you've downloaded the tool, confirm your account configuration by clicking "Yes."

  6. Click "Finish."

  7. If Outlook or Outlook Express is already open, you'll need to restart it (the new settings won't take effect until you do this). When you restart, you may see a pop-up asking you to import your new account. Click "Yes."

  8. When prompted, enter your Business Email password, then click "OK."

That's all there is to it — your new account is now ready to use in Outlook or Outlook Express!
