Mozilla Thunderbird

To add a new Yahoo! Business Email POP email account in Mozilla Thunderbird:
(Instructions based on Thunderbird 11.0 and may differ from other versions of the program)
  1. Launch Thunderbird
  2. Click the "Tools" menu link.

  3. In the "Tools" pull-down menu, click "Account Settings".

  4. In the Account Settings Window, click the Account Actions button.

  5. In the Account Actions pull-down menu, click "Add Mail Account..."

  6. In first Mail Account Setup window enter the following information:

    • Your Name: Enter the name you would like to appear in the "From" field of outgoing messages.
    • Email Address: Enter your full Yahoo! Business Email address (for example, "j.smith@yourdomain.com").
    • Password: Enter your Yahoo! Business Email password

    • Click the Continue button.
  7. In the second Mail Account Setup window:

    • Select the radio button for the desired server type, in this case: POP3 (keep mail on your computer)

    • Click the Manual config button
  8. In the third Mail Account Setup window enter the following information:

    • Incoming:
      • Server type: POP3
      • Server hostname: pop.bizmail.yahoo.com
      • Port: 995
      • SSL: SSL/TLS
      • Authentication: Normal password
    • Outgoing:
      • Server type: SMPT (default setting, not editable)
      • Server hostname: smtp.bizmail.yahoo.com
      • Port: 465
      • SSL: SSL/TLS
      • Authentication: Normal password
    • Username: Enter your entire Yahoo! Business Email address

    • Click the Create Account button
To control deletion of messages from the Yahoo! Business Email server:
  1. Click the "Tools" menu link.

  2. In the "Tools" pull-down menu, click "Account Settings".

  3. Click "Server Settings" under the appropriate mail account on the left.

  4. Use checkboxes to specify your preferences:

    • Leave messages on server (if you don't want messages to be deleted from the Yahoo! servers when they are downloaded to Thunderbird)
    • For at most ___ days (if you want to specify how long copies of downloaded messages remain on the Yahoo! servers before being deleted from the Yahoo! servers)
    • Until I delete them (if you want copies of downloaded messages to remain on the Yahoo! servers until you actively delete them or the Business mail account is closed)

    • Click the OK button to submit the settings.
