Mac OS X Mail

To add a new POP email account in the Mac OS X Mail program:

  1. Launch Mail.
  2. Click the File menu link.

  3. Click "Add Account" in the File pull-down menu.

  4. In the New Account General Information pop-up window:

    • Full Name: The name that will appear in the "From" field of outgoing messages
    • Email address: The Yahoo! Business Mail email address
    • Password: Your Yahoo! ID password.
    • Click the Continue button

  5. In the Incoming Mail Server window, make sure that POP is selected in the "Account Type" menu, and then fill in the following pieces of information:
    • Incoming Email Server: pop.bizmail.yahoo.com
    • User Name: the entire Yahoo! Business Mail address
    • Password: the Yahoo! Business Mail password
    • Description: Enter the name for your mailbox, this will only be shown in Mac Mail and is for your use.
    • Click the Continue button

  6. In the Outgoing Mail Server window:

    • Outgoing Mail server: smtp.bizmail.yahoo.com
    • Click the checkbox for "Use Authentication"
    • User Name: enter entire Yahoo! Business Mail address
    • Password: Enter Yahoo! Business Mail password
    • Description: This is optional
    • Click the Continue button
    • NOTE:Depending on your preferences you can either leave "Use only this server" checked or unchecked. If you have additional email accounts set up in Mac Mail, you may prefer to leave this option unchecked.

  7. In the Account Summary window:
    • Review the account information
    • If the information is correct, click the Create button
      (If the information is not correct, click the Go Back button and make corrections.)

  8. After you click create you will be taken to you Inbox. You will want to click on the settings menu in the lower left hand corner of the window. The settings menu will be represented by an icon that looks like a gear.
    • Click the gear icon
    • Select the option to edit your mailbox

  9. Go to the Advanced option:
    • Confirm that SSL is selected, and that you are using port 995
    • Depending on your preferences either check or uncheck the box next to "Remove a copy from server after retrieving a message:"

      NOTE: If you leave this option checked, when a message is deleted from Mac Mail it will also be deleted from our servers. Once a message is deleted from our server, we are not able to recover it.
