Can I download my bulk messages when I use POP mail?

Yes — though these settings differ if you have a Business Email address associated with a Yahoo! ID, or if you access your email exclusively via POP.

POP-only email addresses
Because the SpamGuard Plus feature is not available to POP-only users, we won't identify any of your messages as bulk or spam. All incoming messages will be delivered when you download new messages to your email client, including spam.

Business Email addresses associated with Yahoo! IDs
If you signed up for Yahoo! Business Email after June 30, 2003, the contents of your Bulk mail folder will by default not automatically download when you access your messages using a POP mail client. You can read messages caught by SpamGuard through the Yahoo! interface. (These messages will remain in your Spam/Bulk folder for a specified length of time, or until you delete them yourself.)

However, if you'd like, you can choose to download messages in your Spam/Bulk folder in addition to those in your inbox. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your account at http://mail.widgetdesigns.com (be sure to replace "widgetdesigns.com" with the domain associated with your email address).

  2. If you're using the new Mail interface:

    • Click "Options" in the upper-right corner of the page, then choose "Mail Options" from the pull-down menu.

    • On the left side of the page, select the "POP & Forwarding" option.

    • On the POP & Forwarding page, click the "Set up or edit POP & Forwarding" link.

The original Mail POP & Forwarding page opens in a new window or tab.

Note: If you're using the original Mail interface, click "Mail Options" in the upper-right corner of the page, then click the "POP Access and Forwarding" link.

  3. To receive all your messages when you use POP, even those we suspect are spam, select the "I want to receive all messages, including those that Yahoo! SpamGuard thinks are spam" radio button.

Tip: To help you filter spam, select the "For messages that SpamGuard thinks are spam, add [Bulk\ as a prefix to the subject" checkbox. This will mark any incoming emails we've identified as spam with [Bulk\ in the subject, allowing you to easily sort the junk from your real mail.

  4. Click the "Save" button to activate your new settings.
