How do I send email to a contact, or to multiple contacts?

You've got several ways to send mail to your Address Book contacts. The easiest is Address AutoComplete.

  • Address AutoComplete
Open Yahoo! Mail and click "Compose". Type a few letters of a name (first, last or nickname) or email address in the "To:", "Cc:" or "Bcc:" fields. AutoComplete shows you a list of complete email address choices that match what you've typed. Just click the contact you want from the list, and Mail fills it in for you. It's quick!

  • Using Your Address Book
Start a message right out of your address book. Here's how:
    1. Click "Addresses" to open your address book.
      • To email an individual contact:
        • Find the contact you want: click the section of the alphabet it's in, or search with "Search Contacts", or look in a category. When you find who you're looking for, click their email address. This opens a Compose window addressed to them.
      • To email multiple contacts:
        • As you locate the contacts you want, check the boxes next to their names or next to the names of lists. When you've checked all the boxes you want, click the "Send Email" button above your list of contacts. This opens a screen confirming the recipients you've selected. If it's got all the people you want, click "Compose" to get going with your message to all these contacts.

  • Using the Pop-Up Address Book Window
The Pop-Up Address Book is handy when you've already started composing an email. Here's how to use it:
    1. Click any of the "To," "Cc," or "Bcc" links at the top of the Compose window to open the pop-up address book. Do not click on the "Addresses" tab on the upper left of the page or you'll lose any text you typed.
    2. In the pop-up window, locate your intended recipients and check the appropriate boxes (To:, Cc:, or Bcc:) to the left of their names.
    3. To send the message to all of the members of one or more of your distribution lists, click the "List" link and check the boxes next to the appropriate lists.
    4. When you're done selecting recipients, click the "Add Checked Contacts" button to return to the Compose Mail window. The recipients' email addresses should appear in the To:, Cc:, and Bcc: fields.
    5. Finish composing your message.

  • Using Nicknames
If you've entered contact nicknames in your address book, start typing a nickname in the "To:" field. Address AutoComplete shows you a list of complete email address choices that match what you've typed. Just click the contact you want from the list, and Mail fills it in for you. It's quick!
