I updated my credit card information. Why am I still seeing the warning that my account is overdue or suspended?

When you update your billing information, Yahoo! performs a series of actions to restore your account to an active state:

  • Our billing process will attempt to authorize a charge using your updated credit card information.
  • If successful, the billing process will update your account status in our records.
  • Each night, the billing process submits all the authorizations to the issuing banks associated with the credit cards for settlement.

Past-due accounts not suspended:
If your account was past due but not suspended, you may see the alert messages for up to one hour while Yahoo! attempts to authorize your credit card for the past-due amount and, upon authorization, resets your account status to active.

If you continue to see alert messages more than one hour after updating your billing information, or if messages appear in your account days later, please contact customer care.

Suspended accounts:
If your account was suspended, then the DNS (domain name server) information for your domain was changed when your account was first suspended. If you have updated your billing information, and we were able to bill your account for the past-due amount, we will return your DNS information to its normal settings. It can take up to 24 hours for your updated DNS information to propagate across the Internet and for your domain to become fully available.

If your account no longer shows a past-due status (no alert messages), but your domain is not accessible after 24 hours, please contact customer care.

Note: Be sure you've updated the payment information for the correct service. To double-check, visit https://billing.yahoo.com, and click "Update Payment Method" next to the appropriate plan name. From here, you can verify that the billing information for this service is up-to-date.
