To see if a page is in the Yahoo! Search index:

  • Search on a specific phrase or unique text from the page that you are looking for.
  • Try a site search.

If your site can be referenced by more than one domain name, such as "yahoo.com" or "yahoo.org," do a search on each domain name.

The search engine discovers new sites and content by following links from known sites. A web content provider does not need to submit their site to Yahoo! in order to get their content into the search index, but a submit page is available at Yahoo! Search Submit Your Site. New sites that are listed in the major directory services such as the Yahoo! Directory, Open Directory Project (dmoz.org), or MSN Directory are noticed by the Yahoo! Web Crawlers and considered for addition to the Yahoo! Search index. There is no guarantee regarding the time it takes for the Yahoo! Web Crawler to discover content and the process can take several weeks. The Search Submit Basic inclusion program guarantees prompt inclusion in the Yahoo! Search database and frequent content refreshes in our web search index.

Content from websites is read by the Yahoo! Slurp crawler. Webmasters can check their server access logs for access by agent " Yahoo! Slurp" to see if site content is being read by the crawler. When Yahoo! Slurp has read a page, the page content is not immediately available in web search results. Crawled documents are considered for inclusion at the next index refresh.

Webpages and sites that do not conform to the Yahoo! Search Content Quality Guidelines might not be included the index. Please refer to the content guidelines for more information about our content policies.
