Why do I have to authenticate access to a site?

We ask you to authenticate your access to a site to let us know that we have the authorization of a site owner or manager to share additional data about your site. This process verifies that the person requesting information is authorized to access detailed data and functionality from Site Explorer.

This additional data and functionality is subject to abuse if made available to someone who does not own or manage the site so Yahoo! will not share additional data about a site until the authentication process is successfully completed.
