Enhanced Results allow you to customize your Yahoo! Search experience by providing useful information and links that make searching faster and easier. The existing Yahoo! Search results are transformed by the rich and robust content that Enhanced Results makes possible.
Enhanced Results enables such content as pictures, reviews, technical specifications, and more for products; maps, menus, phone numbers, and reviews for restaurants; pictures and subheadings for reference articles, and much more, all within the Yahoo! Search results page.
Getting started is easy since there is nothing to download or install. In fact, a few of the Enhanced Results modules have been turned on automatically for Yahoo! users (On by Default) to give people a chance to experience the new Enhanced Results. These sites were chosen based on their broad range of appeal to users.
For most of the Enhanced Results modules, however, the user has to opt-in to view the enhanced content. You do this by turning on, or enabling, the Enhanced Results module. This can be done from a variety of places:
- Within Yahoo! Search results – In search results, if you see “Show Enhanced Format for this Result” underneath a result, it means that publisher provides enhanced content within Yahoo! search results for users that want to opt in. Simply clicking the link turns on the Enhanced Results module for the publisher.
- From the publisher’s website – Clicking the “Add to Yahoo! Search” button on a publisher’s website will enable the Enhanced Results from that publisher to show up in Yahoo! Search results.
- The Yahoo! Gallery - The Yahoo! Gallery lists all the Enhanced Results modules that are currently available for users to experience. The gallery is organized by subject categories (such as shopping, games, sports, etc.) to allow users to browse through areas of interest. Users can also search for Enhanced Results modules by name or keyword. The gallery also organizes the Enhanced Results modules by the most recently added, by popularity, most active and by most users.
- Yahoo! Search Preferences – The Yahoo! Search Preferences page provides a list of all the Enhanced Results modules you have enabled. You can also see detailed information about them, re-order or remove individual Enhanced Results modules.
If you decide you do not want to use an Enhanced Results module anymore, there are two easy ways to revert to a simple search result format for that site:
You can either click the "X" icon, in the upper right of the Enhanced Results module, or you can go into your Yahoo! Search Preferences and make changes there.
- Clicking the "X" in the module immediately reverts the module back to a simple search result format. It also allows you the option of reporting inappropriate content so Yahoo! can investigate and take action. Please note if you have Enhanced Results modules turned on from different publishers, clicking the "X" icon will only remove that specific Enhanced Results module, it does NOT turn off all your Enhanced Results modules.
- In your Yahoo! Search Preferences find the Yahoo! Search Enhanced Results module you no longer want to experience and click "Remove" on the right side of the screen.
