What is voice dialing?

Important information for existing VAD subscribers: Your existing Yahoo! VAD service at 1-800-44-YAHOO is being transitioned to a new Yahoo! Phone Card service at 1-800-926-3588. Please note that you will not lose any funds in your account, and you can continue to make calls using 1-800-44-YAHOO until June 30, 2003. Beginning July 1, 2003, you will be required to dial 1-800-926-3588 when you want to place a call with your Yahoo! Phone Card. For more information, please click here.
Yahoo! Phone Card's Voice Dialing service allows you to make phone calls from any phone by simply saying the name of a contact in your Yahoo! Address Book or by saying a phone number. For example, you can say "Ben Dryden at work" or "555 084 6120."
This service uses voice recognition technology built into 1-800-44-YAHOO, so you don't have to pre-record the names in advance, and you can use voice dialing from any type of telephone. All you need to do is store your contact information in your Yahoo! Address Book.
The phone numbers in your Yahoo! Address Book available for voice dialing are Home, Work, Pager, Fax, Mobile, and Other. You can store up to 5,000 names with 6 phone numbers each -- that means you have up to 30,000 phone numbers available to you from any phone.
In situations where you might not be able to speak your commands into the phone, you can always use your phone keypad to enter the phone number you want to call.
