How do I block unwanted messages?

If you're receiving unwanted communication from someone, you can block that user from contacting you in the future. This can be done from within the Yahoo! Personals Mailbox or during an IM.

To block in the Reply Box:

  1. Go to your Reply Box in the Yahoo! Personals Mailbox.
  2. Locate the sender you'd like to block in the list of messages.
  3. Click the "Block User" link next to that user.
  4. You will be asked if you really want to block this user. Click "Continue Blocking" to complete the block.
  5. After blocking, all references to the blocked user is shown in gray. This includes the person's ad listed in search results, the person's ad itself, and messages in your Reply Box from that person.

This user can no longer send you instant messages or messages in the Yahoo! Personals Mailbox.

To block in a mail message:

  1. Open the Yahoo! Personals Mailbox message of someone you'd like to block.
  2. Click the "Block User" button located next to the "Reply" and "Delete" buttons.
  3. You will be asked if you really want to block this user. Click "Continue Blocking" to complete the block.
  4. After blocking, all references to the blocked user are shown in gray. This includes the person's ad listed in search results, the person's ad itself, and messages in your Reply Box from that person. This user can no longer send you instant messages or messages in the Yahoo! Personals Mailbox.

To block during an IM:

  1. In the Yahoo! Personals IMV you'll see a "Block User" button below the person's information in the IMV window.
  2. Click the "Block User" button and a new window opens asking if you really want to block this user. Click "Continue Blocking" to complete the block.
  3. After blocking, all references to the blocked user is shown in gray. This includes the person's ad listed in search results, the person's ad itself, and messages in your Reply Box from that person. This user can no longer send you instant messages or messages in the Yahoo! Personals Mailbox.
