No, we do not.
Yahoo! Personals is committed to providing a safe and secure online dating environment for our members. We invest heavily in our users' safety through provisions such as reviewing each and every dater profile submitted, ensuring anonymity to the users, enabling community policing through feedback mechanisms in the product, and quick response to every complaint and notification we receive.
We do not believe that the providers of background checks have at this point developed processes that can meaningfully increase the security we provide our customers today; criminal background checks are incomplete and therefore create a false sense of security for users, due to the fact that most states do not have 100 percent of their counties reporting felony information to the database. Furthermore, some states do not require counties to report all felony convictions involving sexual assault, while others don't require counties to report felonies that have been pled down to a misdemeanor. The usefulness of the databases is further compromised by the ease with which parties can circumvent them by fraudulent means, such as entering a false name when they sign up for the dating service.
