Migration Assistant Technical Questions

Here are answers to some of the current issues our users are facing during migration. You can search this page as well, using Ctrl-F and enter the keyword you're looking for.

I have downloaded and installed the Yahoo! Music Jukebox with Migration Assistant, but I do not see the Migration Assistant anywhere

The Migration Assistant should be an icon in the left pane of the most recent version of the Yahoo! Music Jukebox. If you're sure you have the latest version, and there is no icon to click, you should uninstall then reinstall the Yahoo! Music Jukebox. This should solve the issue.

Uninstall the Yahoo! Music Jukebox:
  1. First, be sure you close and exit the Yahoo! Music Jukebox. If you don't, the uninstall won't work.
  2. Click on the'Start' menu then select 'Run...'
  3. In the 'Open:' text field, type: control appwiz.cpl
  4. Press OK
  5. In the list of applications, select "Yahoo! Music Jukebox" and click the "Remove" button.
  6. NOTE: If you are using a partner version of Yahoo! Music Jukebox, check under your specific partner's application listing if you having troubles locating the Jukebox from the list.
  7. Click the "Next" button, then "Finished."
NOTE: If you see an error that the uninstall process failed, you will need to install the Yahoo! Music Jukebox following the instructions below and then uninstall the application by performing the above steps again.

Now reinstall the Yahoo! Music Jukebox. Uninstalling and reinstalling the Yahoo! Music Jukebox is free, and does not affect your Yahoo! Music Unlimited account. You will simply sign in using your Yahoo! ID at the completion of the install process; you will be prompted to add in the music files already on your computer, and your subscription music (if any) will be automatically added
  1. Close all running applications except Internet Explorer
  2. Click here to get the correct version
  3. Save the program -- do not "Run" it -- and download it to the desktop
  4. From the desktop, double-click the installer file that you downloaded and follow the onscreen instructions
  5. NOTE: Download time can take anywhere from 1 to 25 minutes and 30 MB of free space is required to install the Yahoo! Music Jukebox.
  6. After installing, click the Jukebox icon on your desktop to begin.
  7. Sign in using your Yahoo! ID.

I completed the Migration Assistant but some or all tracks in my Musicmatch library do not appear in My Music on the Yahoo! Music Jukebox

Any tracks that were not successfully transferred during the migration may be manually added or imported. Here's how:

Find the same music in Yahoo! Music Unlimited and add it:
  1. Search for the missing On Demand song, album, or artist in Yahoo! Music Unlimited
  2. Click the "Add to My Music" (+) button in the "My Music" column (if the + button is there)

Manually import your purchased/imported Musicmatch tracks into Yahoo! Music Jukebox from the Musicmatch library:
  1. In the Yahoo! Music Jukebox, click 'My Music'
  2. From the File menu, select 'Add File to My Music' (for a single song) or 'Add Folder to My Music' (for multiple songs)
  3. Select the song or folder that you want to add, and then click Open

I completed the Migration Assistant and I cannot find my Musicmatch playlists

Playlists in the Yahoo! Music Jukebox are accessed from the left navigation pane. Click the Playlists item, and they should appear beneath and in the center pane.

If you find that some or all of your Musicmatch playlists did not successfully transfer during the migration, you can manually import them this way:
  1. Start Musicmatch Jukebox
  2. Open up the Playlist Manager (click the 'Playlists' button and choose 'Playlist Manager')
  3. Right-click on the playlist you want to migrate to Yahoo! Music Jukebox and choose "Export Track List"
  4. Save the playlist as type "m3u" in a location on your hard drive
  5. Start the Yahoo! Music Jukebox
  6. Drag m3u file to the "Playlists" item in the left navigation pane of the Yahoo! Music Jukebox
  7. The playlist should now appear and function normaly in the Yahoo! Music Jukebox
NOTE: Playlists that contain both local, imported tracks *and* Musicmatch On Demand streams are not imported by the Migration Assistant.

Now that I have migrated to the Yahoo Jukebox, may I uninstall the Musicmatch Jukebox?

Once you have successfully migrated to Yahoo! Music Jukebox, you may remove Musicmatch Jukebox if you wish. The two players are not connected, i.e., they are each a standalone and not affected by the other. However, you may want to keep your version of Musicmatch Jukebox for features such as Line-In Recording or others not found with Yahoo! Music Jukebox. Keep in mind that you cannot access any subscription music through Musicmatch Jukebox. That is handled now by Yahoo! Music Jukebox.

The Yahoo! Music Jukebox gives you powerful music discovery tools, social networking and access to your music from any PC in the world, so you'll definitely find the next generation of music management with Yahoo! Music Jukebox as well.

When you play your Musicmatch Purchased tracks in the Yahoo! Music Jukebox, you should be presented with a 'Musicmatch Sign in' prompt. Make sure you enter the Musicmatch username/password login information associated with the Musicmatch account you used to purchase the tracks (even if it asks for your Yahoo! ID. Ignore that - it's a known error we have corrected in the most recent version of the Jukebox with Migration Assistant).

After you sign in, the licenses on your Musicmatch purchased tracks will be updated for use in the Yahoo! Music Jukebox.
