Build playlists to manage your music: for organizing by theme, to burn to CD, transfer to portable devices and more. You can also
share your playlists with the entire Yahoo! Music community.
There are several ways to build a playlist.
Use Now Playing to Build a Playlist
- Create a playlist in the Now Playing area, visible on the right side of the Yahoo! Music Jukebox. Simply drag items from My Music into the Now Playing column on the right. You may drag individual tracks or entire albums, artists or genres (see Tip 1, below, for double-click options).
- You can also add tracks (or artists) to Now Playing using the right-click menu from search results in Yahoo! Music Unlimited.
- You can drag the tracks up or down to reorder them.
- Once Now Playing is filled with the tracks for your playlist, choose what you want to do with it. The icons/buttons at the top of Now Playing allow you to (left to right):
- Clear the playlist: all items removed
- Save the playlist: save items to a new playlist or add to an existing playlist. To create a new playlist select New Playlist from the Select a Playlist … box. A new playlist will be saved in Playlists in the left pane. To add tracks to an existing playlist, select the playlist name in the Select a Playlist … box.
- Burn the playlist to CD: opens a tool to help you burn the tracks to CD
The Actions button gives you more options to:
- Open an existing playlist.
- Save this playlist
- Clear this playlist
- Transfer the playlist to a portable device. You must have a device connected to complete this action.
- Add to My Music: adds the playlist as new to My Music
- Add to a Playlist: adds songs to an existing playlist you select
Create a Playlist Using the File Menu: Click
File > Create a Playlist. This is a useful method if you're currently listening to music (CD, LAUNCHcast, another playlist, etc.,) on the Yahoo! Music Jukebox and want to build a playlist while listening. Create the blank playlist as described above, then drag items into it -- from
My Music, search results,
Now Playing, etc. Then choose the options from the choices at the top of the window to save, burn, etc.
Create a Playlist By Dragging Items to the Word "Playlists": You can create a playlist instantly by simply dragging items (songs, albums, artists, etc.) from the center pane to the left navigation pane item
Playlists. The Yahoo! Music Jukebox will automatically create the new playlist.
Add Music to an Existing Playlist
If you want to add tracks to a playlist you already created, simply drag the track names from the center pane to the name of the playlist in the left pane (click
Playlists to open the item if not already opened). You can also drag albums, artists and genres to an existing playlist.
Tips:
- From My Music, double-clicking an artist, genre or album will add all tracks of that type to Now Playing. Double-clicking a song adds all your songs. You can adjust how double-clicking in Now Playing works under: Edit > Preferences > General > Play Settings.
- You can drag tracks directly from Now Playing to certain services in the left navigation pane (a blank CD, portable device, even to a friend in Messenger Music).
- You can right-click each track in Now Playing to select specific actions for that track
Delete or Rename a Playlist
- In the left pane, right-click the name of the playlist (under the Playlists item)
- Do one of the following:
- Select Delete
- Select Rename and type a new name. Click Enter or Return.
