Creative Labs Device Upgrade Information and Error Troubleshooting

The Creative Labs Zen Micro Requires a Free Software Update to Function Properly with the Yahoo! Music Jukebox

A number of portable devices are compatible with Yahoo! Music Unlimited subscription song files, including the devices below. However, they may need some additional software that did not come installed from the manufacturer. It's easy to go to the manufacturer's site, download the firmware update, and you're ready to go.

Instructions for Firmware Updates for Creative Labs Zen Micro

  1. Download the firmware from Creative Labs.
  2. Connect your device.
  3. Close the Yahoo! Music Jukebox, all other media applications (Windows Media Player, Musicmatch Jukebox, etc.), and all other windows on your desktop.
  4. Double-click the installer on your desktop and install the firmware update. If the firmware update application doesn't recognize your device, you may have to install the software from the CD that came with your device.
  5. If the Windows "MTP Media Player" dialog box appears after the firmware update succeeds, just hit Cancel.
  6. Now you can run your device with the Yahoo! Music Jukebox. The Creative Labs Zen Micro should show up in the left pane of the Yahoo! Music Jukebox, and you should be able to transfer your subscription songs to it.

Errors/troubleshooting with the Creative Labs Zen Micro

If you encounter the transfer error "The IO operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request," try the following to remedy the error. Be aware this will delete ALL your music on the Micro:

  1. Close all media applications (Windows Media Player, Yahoo! Music Jukebox, etc.), and disconnect the Zen Micro from your computer.
  2. Turn off the Zen Micro.
  3. Remove the battery.
  4. Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert the battery to the Zen Micro.
  5. Hold the Power button until the recovery mode appears.
  6. From the recovery screen, choose Format All. All data on the device will be deleted.
  7. Reconnect the device and restart the Yahoo! Music Jukebox.
  8. Now synchronize your music again to load it back onto the device.

The Creative Labs Zen Xtra Requires a Free Software Update to Function Properly with the Yahoo! Music Jukebox

  1. Download the firmware from Creative Labs.
  2. Select firmware version 2.10.03.
  3. Connect your device.
  4. Close the Yahoo! Music Jukebox, all other media applications (Windows Media Player, MusicMatch Jukebox, etc.), and all other windows on your desktop.
  5. Follow the instructions on the download page, above, to complete installation of the update.
  6. Restart the Yahoo! Music Jukebox and the device should be ready to go.

The Creative Labs Zen Touch Requires a Free Software Update to Function Properly with the Yahoo! Music Jukebox

  1. Download the firmware from Creative Labs.
  2. Select the offered firmware version.
  3. Connect your device.
  4. Close the Yahoo! Music Jukeboxe, all other media applications (Windows Media Player, MusicMatch Jukebox, etc.), and all other windows on your desktop.
  5. Follow the instructions on the download page, above, to complete installation of the update.
  6. Restart the Yahoo! Music Jukebox and the device should be ready to go.
