What is Subscription Music?

Subscription refers to tracks available through the Yahoo! Music Unlimited subscription service. These tracks are encoded using DRM (digital rights management), which means you can:
  • Save and play these songs on the Yahoo! Music Jukebox
  • Transfer them to subscription-compatible portable devices if you have Yahoo! Music Unlimited To Go)
  • Share them with friends via Messenger Music, if your friend also has a Yahoo! Music Unlimited subscription (if not, only :30 samples will be shared).

The tracks are yours to use as indicated above as long as your subscription to Yahoo! Music Unlimited is up to date. If you end your subscription, the DRM encoding renders your tracks unplayable. As well, you cannot use the tracks on devices or players others than those in the subscription-compatible portable devices list. Subscription music cannot be burned to CD.

You can save any song on Y! Unlimited where you see the Add to My Music icon. If you are a subscriber, clicking this button adds the song to My Music. You may add an unlimited number of songs as part of your monthly subscription.

Periodically, the computer containing the subscription music files must update the licenses by going online to the Internet. Also, if you use Yahoo! Music Unlimited To Go, your portable device may also need to be connected periodically to update the licenses for the tracks on that device.
