WAP, short for Wireless Application Protocol, is a global and open standard. WAP enables mobile devices, such as mobile phones or PDAs, to access specially designed information or services on the Internet.

A WAP-enabled device cannot be used to browse the Web. It can only access special pages that have been written in the Wireless Markup Language (WML).
