We created the Yahoo! Profiles "Manage My Updates" page to allow you to manage your Yahoo! Updates, including the ability to turn them off if you don't want to share (or "broadcast") them. There are three different ways you can access your "Manage My Updates" page from within Yahoo! Messenger 9.0 or later, after you're signed in:

Method 1:

  • Click the Messenger menu, select Manage Updates I Broadcast.

Method 2: ( Yahoo! Messenger 9.0 only)

  1. Click the Messenger menu, select Privacy Options and the " Yahoo! Messenger Preferences" window will open.
  2. Click Manage the Updates that I Broadcast at the bottom of the window.

Method 3:

  1. Click your avatar or photo and your "Me" card will open.
  2. Click Manage My Updates.

On the Manage My Updates page:

The check box is selected by default for the "Share my Updates" option. If you don't want to share all of your Updates, you can modify these settings to control what you share.

To block all Updates:

  1. Clear the check box option for Share My Updates.
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Save.

You also have the option of not sharing individual Updates.

To block individual types of Updates:

  1. To the right of an individual Update, select No One from the drop down menu.
  2. After making the changes to the individual Updates, scroll down and click Save.

Note: Some Updates may continue to be displayed from the temporary cache file for a short while.

Tip: To manage your Updates without using Yahoo! Messenger 9.0 or higher, go to the Yahoo! Profiles "Manage My Updates" page and sign in.
