Why aren't my emoticons working?

First of all, please make sure that you have Emoticons enabled:

  1. Select " Yahoo! Messenger."
  2. Select "Preferences."
  3. Click "Messages."
  4. Make sure the option labeled "Enable emoticons" is checked.
  5. Click "OK."
