- Check different connection options within the version of Yahoo! Messenger installed on your computer:
- Check the connection setting in the version of Messenger installed on your computer:
- Click the Messenger menu and select Connection Preferences.

- Click Connect directly to the Internet, and then click OK.

- Try signing in again, if you aren't able to sign in, then see the section, "Before you contact Customer Care," for information about contacting Yahoo! Messenger Customer Care.
- Click the Messenger menu and select Connection Preferences.
- Change the connection type to a connection via a proxy server:
- Click the Messenger menu and select Connection Preferences.

- Click Connect via a proxy server, then under this option, select HTTP proxy, and then click OK.
