  • Check different connection options within the version of Yahoo! Messenger installed on your computer:
    1. Check the connection setting in the version of Messenger installed on your computer:
      1. Click the Messenger menu and select Connection Preferences.

      2. Click Connect directly to the Internet, and then click OK.

      3. Try signing in again, if you aren't able to sign in, then see the section, "Before you contact Customer Care," for information about contacting Yahoo! Messenger Customer Care.
    2. Change the connection type to a connection via a proxy server:
      1. Click the Messenger menu and select Connection Preferences.

      2. Click Connect via a proxy server, then under this option, select HTTP proxy, and then click OK.

      3. Try signing in again, if you aren't able to sign in, then see the section, "Before You Contact Customer Care," for information about contacting Yahoo! Messenger Customer Care.
