You or your friend may have a corrupted display image file—which isn’t as bad as it sounds! Usually, deleting the cache files makes everything as good as new. It takes teamwork, though. BOTH you and your friend need to follow these instructions:
- Close Yahoo! Messenger.
- Go to your Windows Desktop and double-click on My Computer.
- Double-click Local Disk (C:).
- Double-click Program Files, then double-click Yahoo!, then double-click Messenger, then double-click Cache. Whew!
- Now, double-click Avatars, and in the Edit menu, click Select All.
- Right-click on the highlighted list and select Delete.
- In the box asking “Are you sure...”, click Yes.
- OK, go back one folder to the Cache folder.
- Double-click Icon, and in the Edit menu, click Select All.
- Right-click on the highlighted list and select Delete.
- In the box asking “Are you sure...”, click Yes. Close the folder window.
- Sign in to Yahoo! Messenger and you should be all set!
PLEASE NOTE: When you upload a display image, it's really important you make sure that the file name has no commas, dashes, or periods. The picture file should only contain words.
