Need to really concentrate on that billiards shot? You can mute all Yahoo! Games sounds in Yahoo! Messenger:

Click the Messenger menu and select Preferences.

Select the Alerts & Sounds category.

Check the Mute Yahoo! Games sounds in Messenger by default option.

Click the OK button at the bottom of the window.

Please Note: Un-check the option to enable sounds.
