Replace an article

You have reached the maximum number of saved articles. Your oldest saved article will be replaced with the new one.

Here’s how:

  1. Click the Messenger menu and select My Contact Details.
  2. Fill in BOTH the First and Last name you’d like others to see for you in Yahoo! Messenger.
  3. When you're finished, click Save & Close.

    • Important: If you leave your First name blank here, the first and last names you entered under “Address/Contact Information” in your ID’s account details (when you originally set up the ID) will be used. The same is true of your Last name: if you leave it blank here in Yahoo! Messenger’s Contact Details window, Yahoo! Messenger will grab both the first and last name from the information you initially stored for this Yahoo! ID.
    • To change how your name appears not only in Messenger, but also in other places across Yahoo!, you can edit those First and Last names you originally stored for this ID by clicking Edit to the right of “Address/Contact Information” at http://account.yahoo.com. To verify that you are you, you'll need to sign in first.

Your Old Name Setting Will Continue To Show For Anyone Who Already Added You

Anyone who already added your older name information to their Messenger List or Address Book will continue to display that information in their Messenger Lists and Address Books. If you want them to see your ID differently, you should request that they remove you from their Messenger Lists and/or Address Books, and then Add you again as a new contact with your new information.

Changing Your Name Display In Yahoo! Messenger Will NOT Affect The Display Of Your Name Anywhere Else Across Yahoo!

Yes…basically, just that. :o) Changing your name in Messenger will not affect how your name appears in Yahoo! Mail, for example.
