Sad but true, with a service as convenient and inexpensive as Yahoo! Voice, ill-intentioned people try to take advantage of it by fraudulent means. To protect you (and ourselves), we've designed a number of ways to detect potentially fraudulent use.
An action you took tripped an initial sensor in our fraud system, so we are asking you to verify that you are not, in fact, defrauding us.
Hence, we've charged (and refunded) a small amount—between $.01 and $.99—to the card or account you used to sign up for Yahoo! Voice. We know how much we charged to your card or account, but you don't. We're asking you to find out how much we charged your card or account, and then tell us. This is how we can verify that you're a real user and not posing as someone else. Does that make sense? Here's the idea:
If you were posing as someone else, you wouldn't be able to find out how much we charged to your account. We would therefore be able to cancel your account.
So how do you find out how much we charged to your account? Either look at your records online, or you can call your bank or credit card company directly.
