In an attempt to control unsolicited email (spam), some Internet service providers block port 25. If you experience technical problems sending email, then you need to use port 587 when sending via Yahoo!'s SMTP server.
To make this change, please select from the list of supported clients:
- Microsoft Outlook 2002 (XP) and 2003
- Microsoft Outlook 98, 2000, and Outlook Express
- Eudora
- IncrediMail Xe
Microsoft Outlook 2002 (XP) and 2003
- From the "Tools" menu, select "E-mail Accounts."
- Select "View or Change existing email accounts" and click "Next."
- Select your Yahoo! POP account and click the "Change" button.
- Next, click "More Settings."
- Click the "Advanced" tab.
- Next to "Outgoing server (SMTP)," change port 25 to 587.
- Click "OK," then click "Next" and "Finish."
Microsoft Outlook 98, 2000, and Outlook Express
- From the "Tools" menu, select "Accounts."
- Select your Yahoo! POP account and click the "Properties" button.
- Click the "Advanced" tab.
- Next to "Outgoing server (SMTP)," change port 25 to 587.
- Click "Apply," then click "OK" and "Close."
Eudora users please click here for instructions on how to change the outgoing SMTP port to 587.
- From the "Tools" menu, select "Accounts."
- Select your Yahoo! POP account and click the "Properties" button.
- Click the "Advanced" tab.
- Next to "Outgoing server (SMTP)," change port 25 to 587.
- Click "Apply," then click "OK" and "Close."
