How do I show or hide a person’s “avatar” on the conversation tab, or change my own?
Here’s how:
- Click View in the toolbar along the top of the chat tab.
- From the pull-down menu, click Hide Avatars to stop them from being displayed.
- Return to the View menu anytime and select Show Avatars to start seeing them again.

Yahoo! Messenger users: Have you set a display image in Yahoo! Messenger? If so, you won’t see it while chatting within Yahoo! Mail —not at the moment, at least. We’re working on that! For now, only avatarsare visible while chatting within Yahoo! Mail.
