All you have to do to get started is go down to the county courthouse and file some initial paperwork, which they typically turn around for you in just six to eight months!
No, that's not really how it works at Yahoo!—right? This is the Internet! All you have to do is get to the right page, and type a new name. Here's how:
-
Log in to your Yahoo! Mail account.
- Click "My Account" at the top of the page, near the middle, where you see "Welcome, yourname." It's between "Sign Out" and "Switch Back."
- Enter your password and click "Continue."
- Scroll down to the Address/Contact Information section and click "Edit."
- The name you entered in the "First name" field is the name displayed on the Yahoo! Mail Welcome page.
- To change it, double-click to highlight the current name and then type a new name.
- Click "Finished" in either the upper- or lower-right corner of the page, then again on the Account Information page. All done!
Your new Welcome name now appears when you login to Yahoo! Mail. If you don't see the new name, click the "Refresh" or "Reload" button on your browser's toolbar.
