How do I edit a member's email address in Personal Address?

This is the way to edit a member's email address:

  1. Click "Options" in the upper-right corner of your Yahoo! Mail page.
  2. Click "Upgrades" in the upper-right corner.
  3. Click "Manage Service."
  4. Click "Email Management."
  5. Locate the email address you want to edit and click "Edit."
  6. Enter the new email address and click "Submit Change."

When your change has been submitted, an email is sent to that user at the old address asking for approval. Members have a couple of choices.

  • A member can reject the requested changes. If a member rejects the changes that had been requested by the administrator, the changes won't take effect, and the member appears normally in the administration interface.
  • A member can accept the changes and choose to hold the email address for a period of 90 days. If the member requests to do this, the administrator is unable to recreate the email address and all emails sent to the old address are returned to the sender. The administrator does have the option to reactivate the member's old email address. If this happens, only the previous owner of the address can use the address.
  • A member can accept the changes and choose to release the email address for others to use. If the member requests to do this, the administrator can recreate the email address immediately after the member releases it.
  • The member can ignore the email requesting changes. If the member does this, all email is delivered normally to the old mail address. The member is marked as having an outstanding change in the administration screen.

During the period of time that the changes were requested, the member's email is delivered normally to their old Personal Address. Administrators have the option of removing changes that are pending to a member's Personal Address or of making additional changes while a change is pending. If the administrator performs either of these actions, the old changes are removed and the member will be unable to accept the changes.

Any changes that an administrator makes to a member's Personal Address need to be approved by that member. Yahoo! does this to protect a user's privacy.
