How do I compose messages (and personalize my Signature) with color and different fonts, or switch back to Plain Text if I want?

Have some fun with your emails and give them some visual variety by composing messages using colors, fonts, and a variety of text formats—it's like having a built-in word processor.

Here’s what you do:

  • Click Options in the upper right corner of the page.
  • In the page that opens, under “Management”, click General Preferences.
  • In the "Composing E-mails" section, select “Compose messages as color and graphics”. You can switch back to plain text mode at any time.
  • Click Save.

You can also use Color and Graphics to create a signature with your own personal style. Click Options in the upper right of your Mail page, and in the page that opens, under “Management”, click on Signature.

Note: A signature that features color and/or different fonts requires color and graphics mode if you want the signature to be sent and viewed in color. If you’ve selected “Compose messages as plain text” and have a color and graphics signature, your signature will appear in plain text—no color.

How will color and graphics messages look for AOL users?
Messages viewed using a version older than AOL 8.0 will be displayed in plain text without formatting.

When I hit "Enter", the cursor single spaces. How do I skip two lines?
Press the "Enter" key twice to double-space.

What if I use Netscape?
Sorry, we don't have a Color and Graphics version for Netscape yet.
