How do I choose a web address for my free web site?

You'll be asked to choose a web address for your free web site the first time you open the Yahoo! Local Site Wizard to create your free web site. Your customers will enter this web address into their browsers to visit your site online after you have published. To get started:

  1. Visit the Yahoo! Local Listings Account Center.
  2. Locate the business listing for which you'd like to work on a site and click the "Create" link to the right of the listing name, under the "Free Web Site" heading. The wizard will open, allowing you to begin a site for that listing.
  3. You'll be asked to select a web address for your free web site. Choose one of our suggestions by clicking the corresponding radio button, or enter your own name in the field provided. Click "Next" to submit your choice. (If your chosen address is not available, enter a new name and try again.) Important note: Please be sure you're satisfied with the web address you chose, as you won't be able to edit this name later.
  4. Begin building your pages by following the step-by-step instructions provided. You'll be asked to choose a design, font styles, and an image for your pages and be able to add content of your own to any of five web pages. You can skip any steps you don't want to complete by clicking "Next".
  5. On the "Save and Publish" page, you'll be able to save your work and publish your free web site to the Internet at the web address you chose. (To save your changes at any time, click the "Save and Publish" link on the left side of any wizard page.)
