"Refine Results" helps you pinpoint the type of business or service you're looking for. Located in the left column of your results page, "Refine Results" lets you refine your search by "distance" and "category" for all searches, and, in some cases, also by "rating," "price," "atmosphere," and "other options." So if you don't have as many results as you'd like, you might broaden the distance for your search. If you have too many results, you could pick a specific refine option to narrow by.

"Refine Results" will offer you more or fewer refine options based on what you're searching for. For instance, options like "atmosphere" will only be shown when you search for restaurants.

Here's a description of the "Refine Results" options:

• Distance helps you narrow or widen your search. You can search as narrowly as 1 mile or as widely as 50 miles.
• Category helps you further define what you're looking for. So if you're searching for "art," you can use the "category" option to specify whether you want "art galleries," "arts and crafts supplies," or "art instruction."
• Rating is an average of ratings submitted by professional critics and local users, on a scale of one to five stars. This refine option is generally available for most businesses, services, and landmarks, and shows up after you have specified a "category" option.
• Price ranges from one to four dollar signs, which represent the average price range of a business or service. This option is available once you have specified restaurants with your "category" option. For restaurants, each dollar sign ($) translates to a price range for an average entree for one person:
  • $ = $10 or less
  • $$ = $10-$20
  • $$$ = $20-$30
  • $$$$ = $30 and up
• Atmosphere applies to restaurants and helps you find a restaurant based on whether the ambiance is family friendly, romantic, casual, elegant, fun, or quiet.
• Other options are available for the restaurant category. "Other options" helps you define whether you're looking for a restaurant with additional features like a great wine list, bar, outdoor seating, healthy options, takeout, late night, view, etc.
