If you're using Netscape and are having problems loading or running the original version of StatTracker® after purchasing it (the new version only works on Windows systems using Internet Explorer), please try following these steps:
- Make sure that you aren't running any anti-Java applet or Active X software such as GuardDog or Norton Security.
- Make sure that you have Java enabled: (1) Select "Preferences" from the Edit menu; (2) Highlight the "Advanced" option; (3) Check both the "Enable Java" and "Enable JavaScript" boxes; (4) Click "OK" to save.
- Clear your Internet cache by choosing "Preferences" from the Edit menu and clicking the "Advanced" option. When there, click the "Cache" subcategory so that it's highlighted. Then, click both the "Clear Memory Cache" and "Clear Disk Cache" buttons to delete the current files.
- Make sure that you have at least 100MB of free disk space on your hard drive.
- Choose "Preferences" from the Edit menu and click the "Advanced" option. When there, click the "Cache" subcategory so that it is highlighted. Then, if you are using version 6.x, check to make sure that under the "Compare the page in the cache to the page on the network:" option is set to "Automatically." If you're running version 4.x, make sure that "Once per session" is selected.
- If you're using version 6.x, try starting the StatTracker®. A Java coffee mug should appear in the system tray in the lower-right. Double-click the coffee mug and send us any information shown in this window after starting the StatTracker®. And, if you don't see "Java™ Plug-in: Version 1.4.x" at the top of the screen, go to the Java web site to get the latest version of Java.
- If you're using Netscape 4.x, go to the Communicator menu and select "Tools" and then "Java Console." This opens the Java console window. Try to start the StatTracker® and send us any information displayed in the Java console window.
- If none of the above helps and you're running Netscape 4.x, try downloading the latest Java plug-in from the Java web site and enabling it by choosing "Preferences" from the Edit menu on your browser and clicking the "Advanced" option so that it's highlighted. Then, click the "Enable Java Plug-in" switch to the right. Now, when you start the StatTracker,® a Java coffee mug should be displayed in the lower-right system tray.
