If you're using Internet Explorer and are having problems loading or running the StatTracker® after purchasing it, please try the following:
- Make sure that you aren't running any anti-Java applet or Active X software such as Norton Internet Security. Also, turn off any pop-up-killing software that you might be running.
- Make sure that you have Java enabled: (1) Open Internet Explorer; (2) Select "Internet Options" from the Tools menu; (3) In the Internet Options dialog box select the Security tab; (4) Click "Custom level" at the lower-right; (5) The Security settings dialog box pops up. Under the Java Permissions category, make sure that "High Safety" is checked. Under the Scripting category, make sure that "Enable" is checked for Active Scripting, Allow paste options via script and Scripting of Java applets; (6) Click "OK" twice to close.
- Clear you internet cache by choosing "Internet Options" from the Tools menu and clicking "Delete Files." Then, restart your browser.
- Select the "Internet Options" choice from the Tools menu and click "Settings." Make sure that you've selected "Automatically" as the option under the heading "Check for newer versions of stored pages."
- Check the security level on your browser by choosing "Internet Options" from the Tools menu and clicking the Security tab. Then, click the "Internet" icon listed under the "Select a Web content zone to specify its security setting" header. Make sure that the security level is set to "Medium" or lower inside the box that says "Security level for this zone." If not, select the "Default Level" option, and click "OK" to save. Then, try to load the applet again.
- If the StatTracker® fails to display at this point, try downloading and installing the latest version of the Java Virtual Machine, rebooting your computer, and loading StatTracker® again.
- If the applet still doesn't work, try going to the Internet Options selection of the Tools menu and choosing the General tab. Click "Settings" in the Temporary Internet Files box. In the next dialog window, select the "View Objects" option. A window then opens and displays a listing of files where one is named Yahoo! StatTracker®. Next to the name should be the status "Installed." If you see the listing, but the status is showing as "Damaged," try removing the file by right-clicking it and selecting "Remove." Then, download the StatTracker® again by clicking any StatTracker® link.
- If the above fails and the StatTracker® still isn't being displayed, then we recommend reinstalling Internet Explorer. To reinstall IE, you should (1) Save your Favorites and Outlook Express mail (you can get a shareware tool to do this from the Inachis web site); (2) Download (but do not run) the IE setup program from the Microsoft web site; (3) Uninstall your current version of IE by using the Add/Remove Programs tool, which is located among your computer's Control Panel options (found via the Start button); (4) Run the IE setup program that you previously downloaded (ie6setup.exe).
- If all the above fails, please mail us the contents of your Java console. First enable the Java console by selecting "Internet Options" from the Tools menu in Internet Explorer. Then, click the Advanced tab and scroll down to the middle of the dialog box until you see the Microsoft VM heading. Check the option "Java console enabled (requires restart)" and restart the browser. When Internet Explorer restarts, the Java console option should be available from the View menu.
Try to start the StatTracker® and send us any information that you see displayed in the Java Console window.
