It’s possible to just join a group email list and therefore not have access to the group's web features. This can occur if you haven't linked your email address to your Yahoo! account (Yahoo! ID) and one of the following happens:

  • The group owner adds your email address to the group.
  • You joined the group by sending a "subscribe" request via email (groupname-subscribe@yahoogroups.com).
  • You replied via email to a membership invitation, rather than clicking on the "Join this group!" button.

To prevent this from occurring in the future, please make sure that you:

  • Add any email addresses you'd like to use for groups to your Yahoo! account. This is most easily done via the Membership Wizard. Learn how to use the Membership Wizard.
  • Join a group via the Yahoo! Groups web site located at groups.yahoo.com/group/groupname, where groupname is the actual name of your group. (Hint: To find the name of your group, look in the email you receive from the group. In the "To" field of the email, the groupname appears as groupname@yahoogroups.com)
