How do I make my own Green Plan?

Last Updated: December 18, 2008

To take the Green Challenge and reduce your lifestyle's carbon emissions, you need to create a Green Plan. This plan contains all the actions you'll pledge to do.

If you aren't logged into Yahoo!, you'll be asked to log in. On the Create My Plan page, you'll see a list of carbon-reducing actions on the left. Click one of the categories (Lifestyle, Category, Effort, Impact) to see the different types of activities you can try. Within each category, you'll see sub-categories so you can pick actions that fit who you are and your interests.

Scroll up and down the list to see more actions. You can get more information about an action by mousing over the "i" in the upper-right corner next to an action.

You can select an action in one of two ways -- either click the green plus (+) next to the action or click on the action's text and drag it over to the My Green Plan box on the right.

To remove an action from your plan, either click the red cross (x) next to the action or click on the action's text and drag it back to the list on the left.

As you add to your plan, you'll see how much CO2 you would save by doing all of these actions.

When you are finished creating your Green Plan, enter your ZIP code so we can map the pledges across the U.S. This step is required. Then click "Save My Plan."

When your plan is saved, you'll be taken to a confirmation page where you can get more resources for starting on your plan.
