Can I edit an email address that I gave to someone else?

Yes. If you are the administrator of your account, you can edit a member's email address, although these changes must be approved by the member. To edit an email address:

  1. Sign in to your GeoCities Pro account.
  2. On your GeoCities Control Panel, click "Set Up Email."
  3. From here, you'll see a list of your email addresses. Click "Edit" next to the address that you'd like to edit.
  4. When you're satisfied with your changes, click "Submit Change."

Once an administrator modifies a member's email address, we'll send an email to that user asking for approval. The member then has the following choices:

  • Reject the requested changes. If this happens, the changes will not take place, and the member will appear normally in the administration interface.
  • Accept the changes, but hold the former email address for 90 days. The administrator will then be unable to recreate the former email address, and all emails sent to that address will be returned to sender. In this case, the administrator can opt to reactivate the member's old email address (although only the original owner may use that address).
  • Accept the changes and release the email address for others to use. After the member releases it, the administrator can then recreate the email address immediately and give it to someone else
  • Ignore the email requesting changes. All email will be delivered normally to their old address. The member will be marked as having an outstanding change on the administration screen.

While a change is pending, the member's email will be delivered normally to their old Personal Address. During this time, administrators can cancel the pending changes or make additional changes. If this happens, the old changes will be removed, and the member will be unable to accept the old changes.
