Your home page is the main page of your web site, the page your site visitors will see when they go to your web address or personalized domain, such as http://www.geocities.com/widgetdesigns or http://www.widgetdesigns.com. The Yahoo! home page, for example, appears at http://www.yahoo.com.
The file that generates this default web page (often called the index page) when you create your site with GeoCities is called "index.htm." A site visitor can see your home page when he enters either your web address or your web address plus the index.html file name in his browser (e.g. http://www.widgetdesigns.com or http://www.widgetdesigns.com/index.htm).
To create a home page of your own design, you can use one of our Yahoo! tools or, depending on your plan, a site building tool you already own, such as FrontPage or Dreamweaver. (Learn more about using third-party tools.)
When you build your own web site or page using a Yahoo! tool, your home page will be named "index.html" automatically. Be sure you do not change the name of this file, or your new home page will not display at your web address. If you create your home page using a third-party tool, be sure to name your main page "index.htm" or "index.html." Learn more.
