How do I add background music?

To add background music to your page, you will first need to upload your own music to your File Manager. PageBuilder does not provide music for you to choose from. You can use only .mid, .midi, or .wav files (because they require a media player, you cannot use .mp3, .rm, or .ram files for background music). We recommend avoiding .wav files, which can be large and take a long time to play on slower connections.

Make sure the file you are trying to upload does not contain any special characters, symbols, or spaces within the file name. File names may only contain the letters, numbers, hyphens (-), underscores (_), and periods (.) and may not start with a period.

Tip: With some special exceptions (for example, if you're a music teacher), we recommend that you do not include background music on your web site. Background music can distract your visitors and in many cases detract from the professionalism and impact of your pages.

To upload your background music:

  1. In the PageBuilder File menu, select "Upload Images and Files."
  2. Click the "Browse" button and select your music file.
  3. Click the "Upload" button to upload the music.

To add the music to your page:

  1. Open the page to which you would like to add background music.
  2. Click the "Add-ons" button and select "Background Music."
  3. Under Background Music, click the "Choose" button. The music files should show up in the pop-up directory window, where you can select the music and click the "OK" button. (If the file name does not appear, the directory list may not have refreshed yet. Instead just enter the file name in the Background Music section, exactly as it appears in your File Manager.)
  4. If you want the music to play continuously in a loop, check the box next to "Loop."
  5. Click the "OK" button to save your changes.

To delete your background music:

  1. In PageBuilder, open the music file that you would like to delete.
  2. Click once on the "Background Music Square Module" (a musical note symbol) in the bottom-left corner of your page.
  3. Click the "Delete" key on your keyboard.
  4. Save your changes.
