How long does it take to process a trade?

When you propose a trade, the other team can take up to 10 days to act on your offer.

If you don't receive an email indicating the trade has been accepted, rejected or countered, and if the trade still shows as offered on your team page, it's likely the other team has not made a decision.

If you receive a trade notification email, and the trade proposal does not appear on your home page, then the proposed trade has been canceled by the team that proposed it.

When a trade offer is accepted, it will appear as "Pending" on your team page. The following processing scheduling is in place in all Public Leagues and Custom Leagues using the default two-day review settings:

(For this example, please assume that a trade is offered and accepted on Monday.)

  • Monday: Trade offer accepted
  • Tuesday: Trade review Day 1
  • Wednesday: Trade review Day 2
  • Thursday: Early AM hours, trade processed
  • Friday: Players available on new teams

You can see that even though a two-day review period is in place, the actual time between the agreement between managers and the exchange of players is longer.

Please note that Custom League commissioners have the option of selecting "Commissioner Control" for trade review. Under these conditions, a commissioner can allow (or push a trade through) at any time during the review period.

If you're in a Custom League and receive a trade notification email that the proposed trade has been vetoed, please contact your league commissioner and the league's managers. Yahoo! does not accept or veto trades within leagues.

It's in your best interest to monitor your trade offers and cancel them when they're no longer desirable. If you do not cancel an offer, the other team can still accept it for up to 10 days, even if you've changed your mind.

When a trade proposal has been accepted, the teams involved in the trade can no longer cancel the deal. At this point, the trade is approved or rejected by the league commissioner or league managers (Custom Leagues) or the league managers (Public Leagues).

Additionally, once a trade proposal has been accepted, no player involved in the trade can be dropped or waived.
