Note that commissioners in private and public groups can change the points awarded to correct picks in each round. If you are a member of a group that uses custom scoring, you will also be scored using Yahoo!'s default scoring system for ranking on the Overall Leaderboard.
Commissioners in private and public group can also add one of the following bonus points options:
- Upset Pick Bonus: Upset Pick bonuses give a flat bonus for picking lower-seeded teams correctly. For example, if you correctly pick a 10-seed to beat a 6-seed in Round 2, and the Upset Pick bonus for that round is 1 point, you would earn 1 bonus point. Commissioners can change this bonus value on a round-by-round basis.
- Seed Difference Bonus: Seed Difference bonuses give dynamic bonus points for picking lower-seeded teams correctly. If you correctly select a lower-seeded team, you will earn a bonus of the difference between the seeds times the bonus multiplier for the round, which is customizable by round. Note: real-life match-up seeds will be used for this calculation as opposed to hypothetical match-up seeds as listed in your bracket. For example, if you correctly pick a 10th-seeded team to win, and they beat a 6th-seeded team in Round 2, and Round 2 has a multiplier of 3, you would earn (10 - 6) * 3 = 12 bonus points.
