Winning the Game

Previous | Next

The object of Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball PLUS differs slightly depending upon the type of league you join.

In a Rotisserie League (all non head-to-head Public Leagues are rotisserie), your goal is to have your team perform best across a number of statistical categories. After each day's games, all teams are ranked from first to last in each category, and points are awarded according to the order of finish. These rankings are based on the total of all stats earned by all active players over the course of the season. They may change following each day's game. Each category's points are then totaled to determine an overall score and place. The team in each league that ends the season with the most points wins that league championship.

In a Fantasy Point League, the goal is to have your team earn more fantasy points than all of the other squads in the league. You set a lineup based on league requirements and aim to have your players collect more fantasy points than anyone else's. Your points are tallied throughout the season, and the team with the highest total at the end of the year wins the league championship.

In a Head-to-Head League, the goal is to have your team compile a better win-loss record than all of the other squads in your league. Each week, you'll square off against another team in your league—set a lineup based on league requirements and aim to have your players compile the best stats in each of your stat categories. Your stats are tallied on a weekly basis, with each stat category either counting as a game or run, or being translated to fantasy points (runs and points are eventually converted to wins and losses... please see the Head-to-Head Scoring section for more details) depending upon your scoring configuration. The team with the best record at the end of the year wins the regular season championship. However, teams then participate inleague playoffs to determine the overall league champion.

No matter what scoring style you choose, the better your players perform in real-life games, the more points they help earn for your team.
