I’m receiving too many news alerts. What should I do?

There are several reasons why you might receive a large number of alerts:

  • If you are receiving a large number of news alerts, you might have simply created too many alerts. Try reducing the number of alerts you have created.
  • If a large amount of email is coming from one particular keyword news alert, you might have selected "As they happen" for that alert. With this option, each news story that matches your keyword is sent in a separate email message when a new story matching your keyword is posted.
If immediate delivery of a keyword news alert is not critical, we recommend using the Once Daily delivery option. Under the "My Alerts" tab, click the pencil icon to the right of the alert name you wish to edit. Select "Once Daily" for delivery. All news stories that match your alert are sent to you in one daily email.
  • You might have created a keyword news alert and used a search term that is too broad and finds many matches. In this case, we recommend you narrow your search by entering more specific terms.
  • You might have selected too many categories of Daily News Digest. In this case, we recommend you narrow your selection.
